Copenhagen climate change talks failed, but this is no surprise. it was destined to fail.
First, UN did not do its homework right , second to expect 192 countries to accept something in unison is fools paradise. In a family of 4, it is almost impossible to accept common targets, so, for 192 countries with different vested interest to accept one common goal is dreamlike.
Sometimes, this over enthusiasm of getting the whole world in one place and accepting one single point is like taking One Size Fits All. So, the basic notion itself is wrong. What is good for US is not the best for Brazil and what is good for China is not the best for Sweden. So, why keep pushing all of them to have one size.
Secondly, the answer to this problem is not about individual countries accepting the Temperature rise of 2 deg or 5 deg. But accepting that there are certain industries which are responsible for such a climate change and these industries have to be technologically upgraded to cut the carbon emissions. This needs technology and research. So practically, the forum should short list all such industries, which have carbon emission problems and then take it from there.
Rather, then asking US to cut so much and China to cut so much and smaller countries looking for money from the richer countries in the name of climate change.
The disbursement of payments to any country would be Total Write Off. In the last 60 years , we have already seen that all such payments have finally landed into the pockets of corrupt Politicians and bureaucrats and more of them are now awaiting this God Sent Climate Opportunity.
Next, rather then Carbon Trading, which is again one extremely complicated model of trading thin air , the way forward should be actually Carbon Tax. So all the giant polluting industries will automatically collapse against cleaner technologies.
Obama was very smart to have worked out a deal with one set of countries and made a Text and walked away. At least it is still face saving grace for UN picnic party at Copenhagen. Now the party continues in Mexico next year. Till then most people in the world do not know, what is the meaning of 2deg cut in temperature and the polluting industries will still flourish and the sufferers will be you and me and our children and grand children.
Why did not one World leader get up in this conference and say that for his country, he is stopping the Plastic Bottled Water. Stopping the plastic bags at supermarkets, etc etc. This would have laid the way for other countries to follow. The biggest polluter today is plastics and the carbon emissions in making of the plastics.
There are very small changes required for getting the climate back to normal. However, first, we as individuals should take the first step. I don't buy anymore Plastic Bottled Water. I don't allow supermarkets to pack my grocery in plastic bags. I prefer to peddle my bike to office. Though I own the company. I would take a subway train or local mass transport then take a taxi for work.
Anyway, One Size Fits all will never work out. The basics of Climate Change document itself is wrong. Does not address Technology, does not address Industries causing these problems, does not address the major Individual contributions required., does not address that each day there are some xxxxx new cars are made and sold and there is neither room to run these cars, nor the fuel , nor the space in environment to accept the emissions .Yet no one gets up and says, let us limit the licensing of cars per year or put up huge taxes on cars.
Kopenhagen is a beautiful city, and specially the city square. Denmark also has one of the best environments in the world. Attest the world leaders would have got to see, what it means to have a beautiful environment. I traveled in 1998 with one environmental engineer deep into the country side and explored a few water streams and river . Samples were drawn from these places and checked and what was shocking to see that the purity of the water far better then the normal range.
Danish voluntarily accepted to give away Iceland. Where as most other countries keep fighting for territories, which historically would have not been their part.

Air Asia
Air Travel at one time was novelty. Few would have this luxury to fly and be proud of the flight. How times change and now Air Travel is like taking a Bus, only thing flying Bus and rightly one of the maker calls it AirBus. Now air travel is like a poultry farm in the air, where chickens are stuffed forcefully into the plane and the plane made to fly. More apt would be chickbus.
Air Travel means getting locked with your seat belt on a 2 x 2 ft seat and very restricted foot space. And if on a Transcontinental flight, then the flight is a punishment.
Flight Catering is still worse . A small plate with two spoons of rice, one spoon of one vegetable and one spoon of another vegetable . All of which tastes like rotten egg. And to serve this little food, a full Tamasha ( Show ) is carried out. Well, I gave up eating in the flight some 15 years ago and I would rather carry my own food, if on a long flight. And for short flight, skip the two spoons meal.
Last month, I was travelling to Hong Kong from Singapore by Cathy Pacific and there was a Sardar Ji from India who was sitting in front of my seat. Incidentally all airlines now days employ Indian and local flight attendants, so she served him the Indian Food. Now a two spoons food is not going to be enough for Sardar Ji and he called the girl again and asked for more. The girl said, she would get back and then every 15 mins ,the man called for his food and till the landing of the flight, he was not served his extra request. Simple, because airlines carry limited food supplies and no one can get the extra on request. This is the quality of Airlines.
Anyway, the main post is about Air Asia. This little Budget Airline has impressed me a lot. For those who have not flown Air Asia recently, then they would be impressed to see the new planes and the interiors and the cleanliness. However, most striking is that within minutes of the plane landing, it takes its passengers and on landing, within minutes downloads the pax and the bags.
Air Asia offers prices usually which are one third of most commercial airlines and hence automatically gets its seat full faster then all the other airlines. Secondly, it is online booking , so there is no catch anywhere. Other airlines, it is a good possibility that the next guy seat travelling with you has paid one half of what you have paid. Usually Travel Agent loot.
What is most interesting about Air Asia food is that they have a menu and you can pick up the food you like and order in advance. This is very unique, because now you have the option of taking what you like most , then being on the mercy of the airline to serve you , what you hate most.
Further, if you are a good eater as our Sardar Ji in the last paragraph, then you order two of it.
Airplanes are made by Boeing or Airbus and after that is all about punctuality, safety, promptness and presentation. How does it matter, it is a Budget Airline or dirty old PSU airlines with their aging staff.. One of my client always tells me, why should I fly business class, when the economy class also goes to the same destination. ( Winks )
Overall the Business Model of these young men, who started Air Asia is such a slap on the face of all Giant Public Sector Airlines.
We have seen the big losses of AlItalia, Japan Airlines, Swiss Airlines, Air India, British Airways ,. Who post Multimillion Dollar losses against Air Asia, which works on one third the prices of the conventional airlines and only on account of its smart thinking makes a huge profit.
Will the Governments ever learn, how business is done. How long will we tax payers keep bailing out public sector. How long will these silly Airlines serve the lousiest food and delayed flights and overprices tickets and what not keep sucking us.

Norway - Best Country to Live
Out of the 45 odd countries, I would have travailed in my life , the question usually asked to me was, which was the best country to live?
In terms of Beauty, culture, food , architecture, etc I think almost all countries have their unique place, but when it comes to quality of life relative to the current living of a person, then the choice would get reduced to very few countries in the world.
For me ,the most beautiful country with a very special quality of life comes from " Norway". A small Scandinavian country , however, extremely beautiful and magical with its environment. The Norwegians themselves are also very unique people. The class that sets them apart is their philosophy towards life. The whole thing is like a Spiritual Development of the soul of a person as against the material layout of the society. The beauty is in its simplicity.
The Norwegians like all Scandinavians are locked into bottle, however, there is still the highest order of Honesty which mankind can experience.
The only problem is the very very high cost of Living. Almost astronomical cost and very high tax rates. This makes impossible for any potential immigrant to settle easily in the country.

Optimum - The Child Development Code
" Optimum"
A very simple word , but the least understood.
Modern Schooling or for that matter schooling from time immemorial has largely focused on development of a child, fit enough to survive the jungle rules of a modern society. So inherently weak human beings, learn to control greed, anger, passion, jealousy, filth, hostility, corruption, lies, etc etc and also learn some marketable skills, which would keep them afloat in the society in general.
What Schooling never teaches a child is the concept of " Optimum ". Which is the very fine balance between less and less and more and more. The net result is a personality defect , which then lingers on for the rest of life.
Each one of us has this personality defect, where we do not know our cut off point on most issues. We follow blindly either, what the society does in general or instinctively what is exciting for our nerves. And the net result is unbalanced broken personality, which is good in some areas, but worst in many areas.
It is because , we have not learnt early on in life, that " Time " needs to be optimized, we tend to squander this vital resource on working extremely hard in life, but with very little output. More and more people I meet in life and I find that each of them complains of lack of Time. And the answer is lack of Optimization. I find people generally working for 12 hours each day.
So, if you start your day at 6 in the morning and by 8, you are driving to your office and return home by 8 pm. Then the time which you give your family is from 8 pm to 10 pm and invariably you are so tired that you would hardly bother to know, what is family all about.
Now, if you would have learnt the concept of Optimization early on in life, you would leave the office at 5 pm sharp and be home by 5.40 and spent the full evening with your family. You would have spent time on movies, theatre, books, neighbours, restaurants, games, etc etc. But unfortunately, it is the Rat Race, which keeps people bound to their desk.
If only a child was taught early on in life that Time was a vital resource and one had to optimize time for games, for studies, for learning, for eating etc and within the activity, again there was an optimum limit for each action, the child would have early on learnt the allocation of each resource to an optimum level.
Some children are born smart and some take time to develop, but this is genetic, so forcing kids to work harder then what is required rarely pays off. In fact , it always turns the child against the parents. But making a child realize that setting optimum goals early on in life helps build a beautiful future.

General Motors - Zombie Car
GM will now be run by the Government.
Governments nowhere in the worlds have run Industry successfully. If Govt, then the enterprise is meant to be sucked . For the simple reason, because there are no owners of the organization. The share holder is the public and public in Virtual mode .
Governments all over the world only know stamping and signing papers and creating obstructions in the name of controls and if it is a Third world country, then using the obstruction to extort money form the public.
Function of Government to have a functional public serving community is still a theoretical concept.
As the technology moves further, finally someday, it would be Technology in its auto mode, which will be serving the people and Governments will be only caretakers of Technology. This Utopian day is not so far.
Meantime, GM will be Zombie car and all GM owners will be teased for owning a zombie car. Pity the tax payers of USA for still further draining of their money into the Zombie car.

US Afghan War
US Afghan war now about to enter the 8th year. In fact, one has to say, the war is being fought by NATO and not just US.
NATO is interestingly an alliance of 28 strong countries, which includes US, UK, Germany, Norway, Greece, Denmark, Turkey and the Eastern Block most countries .
Given the expertise of some of the most powerful armies in the world with the best artillery, fighter jets, espionage etc etc, the war in Afghanistan should have been over in 15 days. However, it is now going to be 8 years and let us read further what the Generals keep saying.
Every time you switch the TV on Afghan war news and one of the NATO generals will say, that NATO is loosing out the war in some places and is under control in some places.
NATO a powerful army of 28 nations with the most modern equipments and Taliban a Rag Tag Army .
NATO on Fighter Jets and Tanks and what not and Talibans riding the donkeys.
NATO has the technology to keep the whole country under surveillance and Taliban still managing to find routes for food, arms supplies and more.
NATO would have killed more civilians in the course of last 8 years, then the Talibans, despite the many cautionary notes given to the armies . Talibans anyway kill only civilians.
Is there any rational mind in this world, who can believe that the armies of 28 countries fighting a rag tag donkey riding Taliban and still announcing that they have been loosing out to the Talibans.
Well, if this is the case, then God alone can save most of these allied force countries, as a simple guerrilla organization can take over the full country in no time and none of them will ever be able to clean up the same.
For Countries like Afghanistan, you don't need a War Machine and a Trained Army for the clean up, all you need is to go to the African war torn countries and recruit the guerrilla warriors and ask them to do the clean up job for you. Within 6 months, the country is fully cleaned up and the Guerrilla's will put their new flag and call it Af-Ghana.
Much simpler then all the energies being drained by so many Presidents of the world in controlling Talibans.
It is sometimes the most simplest solutions , which are never thought about and used.
So many lives lost and so much annihilation and so many years and yet no sign of peace.
One thing is certain the Chief of NATO and Chief of US operations in Afghanistan surely need to be sacked for such a poor job performance.

Air France Jet Crash
First my sympathies with the Loss of the loved ones on this flight.
The mysterious accident is a puzzle, which someday National Geographic will show on its channel.
Many speculations so far. But let us wait till the debris is collected and some semblance of order is restored on the accident.
What sometimes puzzles me is the way, the accidents are either reported or addressed. The Air France plane disappeared after a certain time from the radar, so we know the time points and we know the speed of the aircraft and we know the path taken by the flight. So, what was so mysterious in locating the plane. Plus or Minus some miles and you cannot miss the plane.
And it took 2 days for the authorities to find out . And here I was making my Psyche work and announced that the plane debris would be around 467 kms from the Brazil shore. Hmmmmmm and I am wrong so far, it has been found 650 kms away. However, I should have done the maths myself and no need for a Psyche work.
However, sudden air accidents on account of storm or lightening is not really digestible by me. There is something more then that. I have had more then 1000 flights in my life and I know well, what happens in case of bad weather.
The only possible reason, which would come to my mind is that the fuel tank suddenly burst because of some short circuit , but not because of lightening, however, on account of some other failure and the plane went crashing. Otherwise, no matter how harsh the storm, the pilot always has time to manoeuvre and also sent distress signals.
The fuel tank burst would have ,most likely come out of air conditioning fault. Normal cause of over loading.
Let us wait and see, what the final reports are all about.

General Motors. Du Pont, Citi Bank, etc
GM bankruptcy was predicted by me long back and from the first time Bush Doled out the first billion dollars package and then came the next tranche from Obama and now GM becomes the nationalized company with 60% Government owned .
If I was to just do a simple maths and work out the Dollars that were doled out to the GM to save the company. It would well have worked giving the Employees that much sum for Job Loss Compensation and people would have made hundreds of other small profitable businesses then saving a Junk Old company which anyway should have sunk under its own weight.
This reminds me of the film made by an American Documentary producer, who filmed the very first GM plant that was shut and moved to Mexico ( by the joker Robert Smitch, then MD ) and the plight of the people there. I guess the curse of people was so strong that today GM will be a History chapter.
No surprise for me , when such Mega Giant companies fail. The management structure of these companies is so inherently defective that most of the time, there is a war between the management functions itself. Finance against marketing against manufacturing against logistics etc etc. As for the Customer is concerned, he is the Top on the Holy Cow on all the slogans , but factually is only a Milking Cow. Suck it dry and leave it bones only.
Not that Toyoda cars were any great, but Toyoda is a far more disciplined organization. The cars have reliability built in it. Never will a car stop in the middle of nowhere for a component failure , nor is it a fuel guzzler , nor beast looking.
Well, GM fall is a very very long subject. But coming back, companies of this size are sure to sink, whether it is Enron or GM or DuPont or CitiBank.
I sent a mail to DuPont for a sample of Fluropolymer for my next product and now is more then a month, but the sales guy has not reverted, this is despite several reminders.
No wonder, DuPont Exited all the Textile fibre business, but it is not so far from being another GM.
CitiBank is still worse. The bank believes that it is bigger then its customers. Nothing can stop its collapse. Just watch for more time.

I sent a mail to DuPont for a sample of Fluropolymer for my next product and now is more then a month, but the sales guy has not reverted, this is despite several reminders.
No wonder, DuPont Exited all the Textile fibre business, but it is not so far from being another GM.
CitiBank is still worse. The bank believes that it is bigger then its customers. Nothing can stop its collapse. Just watch for more time.

Guantanamo Bay
Guantanamo Bay : President Obama ordered its closure and hence the story of Guantanamo will soon be history. Why the Americans had to have an island of Non Judicial custody is not very clear. But whatever ,it created a black spot on its own very American Freedom Values and the statue of Liberty, with which the US is so famously known.
The GB will close down, but I found it very hilarious, when every country openly criticized the GB. I want to ask each and every at least Third World country, if they don't have a GB embedded in their own Prisons.
Let Amnesty International present a report on how many inmates in each country are without trial and for how many years.
Will now after the action of President Obama, each and every country allow a free access to Human Rights group to the prisons and check on how many more GB need to be shut down.
I am sure, interesting results will come out. while GB would have around 500 inmates in its peak, the rest each country will show a result far far higher then this number and third world the inmates could be unimaginable.
Hope, someday one and all GB are shut.

Finally the Americans have confirmed that the Torture techniques do not support Interrogation . Whether it was Guantanamo Bay or it was Iraq prison or anywhere else in the world.

Sri Lanka
Sri lanka has now shown to the whole world single handedly that how Guerrilla was can only be won by Military means.
LTTE was the most dangerous of Terrorist group and so well organized that they had a full fledged army, full top class weaponry, including air crafts and high motivation for conducting any crime in the name of Eelam.
LTTE invented Suicide Bombs, recruited child soldiers, recruited young girls to fight against the army, kept his own people deprived. Ran money laundering to finance the war, and the evils list is endless.
What could be a bigger shame that Prabhakaran was hiding behind walls, when Petticoat wearing young girls were fighting and giving their lives to protect his mission.

Many things to learn out LTTE
- If you do not allow a segment of society to come up equally, sooner or later, there would be a struggle and what shapes the struggle takes, nobody knows. Therefore the Govt of the day has to ensure that equal opportunities are provided to all sections of society, irrespective of class, caste, gender, ethnicity.
- If such a struggle does start, it has to be immediately corrected by way of extra benefits given to such group for at least sometime. Let them feel that they are now special at least and it has happened , because their voice was heard.
- If further , it goes out of hand and take a shape of violent no return, then there is no other way except to engage in eliminating the group altogether.
Sri Lanka and Russia have successfully finished LTTE and Chechan warlords.
Both cases the world cried foul, when the operations were being carried out. But those jokers, who cried foul, never come up to serve and offer their lives for those being killed for no reason by such groups.
The whole world was trying to press Sri lanka to stop the battle and if Srilanka would have stopped it , Prabhakaran and his goons would be still live to take up the next battle. Same old endless story.
Lesson to learn is that in times of Emergency and wars, nations have to stand by one another.
Also lesson to learn is that after a certain stage, it is only elimination of such groups, that brings about peace.
Pakistan is now struggling and fighting the same battle. Though in case of Pakistan, the Talibans are its own creation.
Again the lesson to learn is that any organization which once takes up arms is not an organization for political engagement ,but understand the fire power only. Whether it is in Spain or Ireland or Kashmir. If timely actions are not taken, these organizations then become draconian and uncontrollable.
However, a very clear line has to be established here. Some establishments like the Military rulers of Myanmar need a group to displace them.
Also, Human Rights have to be empowered and educated that in conflicts of asymmetric type, where was crimes cannot be identified, the rules of engangement has to be a very different kind.
Anyway, it is time US sends its top general from Afghanistan and Iraq to the military academy in Srilanka to learn, how Srilankans won over a ferocious Terrorist group .And Allied forces are still struggling to overpower under fed, illiterate, under armed and donkey riding Talibans against the Military power of US, Germany, UK , Canada, +++++++.
North Korea
Some of these Dictators and their lives have always fascinated me.
Kim Jong Il, 2, one of the most deeply respected Korean in the Korean Peninsula, now has announced his final weapon.
If you are flying close to North Korea, the thin air will sing a song in praise of Kim Jong Il, 2 , such is his control. If he would order his generals that the Sun has to rise from the West, it would actually happen the very next day.
What is most interesting is that the whole nation submits to him and nobody trust nobody for daring to dissent. Not even the top army generals.
If one was to go by BBC Happiness Index of societies in general and where Bhutan confirms that its Gross Happiness Index is higher then the rest of the world, then it has certainly missed out on North Korea. Though underfed malnutrioned, zero access to the rest of the world , zero materialism and being happy with whatever life has provided , yet contented and proud of being able to Keep the South Koreans and Americans out of their boundaries.
Having established the system in place, you need to then bring the rest of the world to your knees. Hence, Booooooooooooooooooooom and comes the Atom Bomb.
What is further interesting for me, how Pariah states, totally isolated from the rest of the world can still have access to Nuclear weapons. If it is so easy, then I reckon the world is soon going to be a very dangerous place. North Korea is still a state and may be contained, but private mafias and war lords and drug mafias do not have a boundary of operation.
Iran is another example, a nation now for more then 25 years under sanctions and so many of them that UN does not know, how to invent more sanctions against Iran. But Iran against North Korea is a very very different situation. Iran has shown resilience, had developed despite the sanctions and generally has a genuine happier society with the people having a right to dissent. Though dissent against the supreme leader can be dangerous , but so is it dangerous in any other country, if you are politically engaged.
Going back to North Korea, the first knee jerk reaction after the bomb is to call a UN security council meeting and look for another resolution. The security council has now run out of words and does not really know, what next sanction, then can put in place.
By the way, if UN is listening, I would strongly recommend that let UN be an Internet Global Organization and all meetings can take place online and with conference calls. As we tax payers are sick of paying for our diplomats flirting with words and making meaningless endless speeches at UN.
UN can have its own TV channel and let the countries debate over TV via satellite phones.
If only UN sanctions would work, Iran would have become bankrupt long back, Myanmar would have collapsed , North Korea would have had a civil war etc etc. Perhaps, Libya could be cited as the only one country, which fell in line because of sanctions. But again not on account of sanctions, however for the reincarnation of Gaddaffi.
Back to North Korea: So, what is the solution for North Korea. First of course US has to really think, what a mess it made out of the successful negotiations to dismantle the nuclear reactor.
It did not really give the Carrot, it promised to North Korea and antagonized the dear leader. The net result, now is total chaos.
The Americans believed that North Korea will collapse like Soviet Union , under its own weight. Totally misjudged, Soviet Union collapsed, because Gorbachev indirectly supported the collapse , though he himself wanted the economic recovery as per 1000 days plan. That is another long story.
North Korea is an extremely proud nation and has been enough brain conditioned that each of them will die for their dear leader, irrespective of what is the cause of war.
The way forward is to first accept that North Korea is a nuclear power and sent compliments to the dear leader for having successfully tested a nuclear bomb, despite the population starving and a bankrupt treasury.
Second, show patience for a while. I am an astrologer and hand reader. I have very extensively read his hand and forecast that dear Leader is already in his last stages. Either he would pass by November latest this year or he would not exceed his 70 th birthday any case.
It is sometime better to take help of ET , when mankind cannot resolve its own issues

I posted the congress victory in India, here and had actually announced the number of seats as 250 , when congress itself was not even confident of getting 165. And this was a day before the results were announced.

Global Forecast
All my friends have been forcing me to now write the Blog on Global issues forecast.
Some of the last forecast that I had made have come out True like

- Oil Prices would be below USD 70. ( This forecast, I had made, when oil prices were at USD150 and had an OPEC executive travelling with me to Europe in the same flight and I challenged him that the prices would crash and finally be lower then USD 70)

Global Veggie
Last visit to Bangkok in March and I found that there were too many veggie restaurants that have come up or there is a special veggie menu . Which means , over the years, people have started understanding the importance of being vegetarian.
I recall my very first visit to Bangkok in the year 1987 and at that time, the only thing that was served to me in the name of veggie food was some green leaves boiled in water sprinkled with salt and pepper. And since then, now a full menu and even full restaurants serving only veggie food is a big change.
Given that Bangkok is a Tourist Paradise, it reflects the mood of the global community and not just the locals,.
However, the green leaf in hot water was not just a dish in Bangkok, but in Europe and Africa , it was still worse, where as a traveller, I had the only option to have salad plate and at times , make my own sandwich with salad. The Europeans would pity me for being a veggie.
Much later in my life , I realized that the rest of the world was not so much into veggie, just for the simple reason that the delectable vegetable cooking never was known to them. Hence, veggie food was best avoided. It was only in the Indian sub continent, where the vegetables were cooked deliously and hence formed the part of daily meal. The Italian cooking still has some veggie touch, but for the rest of Europe, it is only French Fries and for Germans, the Potatoes, which is a veggie ultimate food. Same for the Russians and then the Latin Americans.
Vegetables , if cooked nicely with assortment of spices, makes a perfect diet. Also, it is relatively very easy to cook vegetables, then meat and poultry.

Some time or the other, all the professional feel, if they would could have their own business.
Having started my own business with zero money in my pocket, I learned the hard way that the Businesses are Best done by two kind of people only and for all the others, it is still better to have a routine job.
The first are the Family Run Businesses with poor educational background which traditionally for centuries have been running their own businessesand the second are the Multinational Companies. In both cases Poor Educational Background is a Must and other strong quality should be shamelessness . The leap is not so big from a Family run business to a Multinational Business.
High Education is a very big deterrent in running a successful business. Because, then you would question the validity of many actions.
Now, if you make a survey globally on all the most successful businesses, you will find the owners were very poorly qualified .
Multinational Companies hire Brillant MBA `s from Top Business Schools and then one would argue, how come the poor education helps. The fact is that MBA is teaching, what poorly educated guy is already doing so successfully and better then the Multinationals. Hence the correspondence is equivalent. Second, you would have never heard a Family Run company going backrupt or rarely making a loss. But GM motor, Enron and similar clones falling regularly. The Japanese were smart enough to make sure that their class of Multinationals would be still Family Owned like Toyoda , Nissan, which were all Textile machine makers and then ventured to Automobiles. However, always Family held.
90% of the global business is still Family owned and 10% are Multinational owned and amongst the Family owned, may be 1% are professionals owned, who struggle to fight the Sharks of Multinationals and Family owned.
I will tell you a True Story of an American Company which took over a Glass Bottle mfr plant in Rishikesh , India. The multinational company was already running such plants in US, Mexico, Europe, Africa and with the growing Indian Economy, every such company is looking toward the pie in the cake in growing markets.
This American company was a supplier to Coke and Pepsi and other American brands and therefore thought , it would be simple and easy to capture the market and any case coke and pepsi were the dominant customers.
Nosooner they took over the plant from Thapers in India, they realized that this is not going to be simple. First the Unions, then the Excise and sales tax, then the skill set of management, then the quality and finally the customer.
The company had Top ranking professionals flown in from US to restructure the business and the best systems were put in place, the company worked on no nonsense policies and three years later was loosing millions of dollars. How and why is a very long story. Five years later, the company was sold out to a Family owned company , which ofcourse is running it profitably.
But in short, no matter, what your money in pocket, no matter what your qualification, no matter what technology, what systems, what quality and what prices. At the end, if you could not think like an Idiot and manoeuvre the situation, the chances of success are very limited.
Family run companies know that there is something more then normal standard operating procedure and surely Multinationals know it better.
You have to see it all over the world, how Multinationals have taken over the businesses of even very small objects like , Water, ( Aqua), Chicken, ( KFC, Mc Donald ), Ice Cream ( Baskin Robbins) Choclates ( Nestle ) Coffee ( Nestle ) Not to forget Coke , Pepsi etc.

Aung San Suu Kyi
I have finally decided at least Saturday will be my Blogging day and I will now freely write about the world Governments and their conduct.
Aung San Suu Kyi , 64 years old lady has spent almost her last 20 years under House Arrest. But here story is not just about a Brave Lady, who has been struggling non violently against a Military Regime. But how Impotent the Global Society is when it comes to dealing with Rogue Armies across the world.
First and Foremost is the UN, a walking and talking sham organization, whose Leaders work and behave as if they are protecting their jobs more then protecting the global interest.. Interestingly UN is also the organization, which got its first secretary general from Burma.
ASEAN is another version of UN in Asia, which periodically holds meetings for the welfare of the Media, hotels and other interest groups. Not one member state has the Guts to stand up and reprimand Myanmar for practically hijacking a complete society and ruling at Gun Point.
While the world is focused on more violent issues like Darfur, Swat, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, the Rogue Army run states blatantly continue to enjoy its exploits.
The Irony is when I see on one side a smiling lady, waving to the people and on the other side a General taking salute from thousands of army men. I feel how weak an army can be, when it fears a simple smiling lady.
Such a weak army does not need even need another army or guerrilla group to displace, But just a knock on the door in the middle of the night on the top generals and they would all surrender like lambs. If they were real Man, they could have anyway not kept a Lady in prison for so long , fearing their own lives.

But here story is not just about a Brave Lady, who has been struggling non violently against a Military Regime. But how Impotent the Global Society is when it comes to dealing with Rogue Armies across the world.
First and Foremost is the UN, a walking and talking sham organization, whose Leaders work and behave as if they are protecting their jobs more then protecting the global interest.. Interestingly UN is also the organization, which got its first secretary general from Burma.
ASEAN is another version of UN in Asia, which periodically holds meetings for the welfare of the Media, hotels and other interest groups. Not one member state has the Guts to stand up and reprimand Myanmar for practically hijacking a complete society and ruling at Gun Point.
While the world is focused on more violent issues like Darfur, Swat, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, the Rogue Army run states blatantly continue to enjoy its exploits.
The Irony is when I see on one side a smiling lady, waving to the people and on the other side a General taking salute from thousands of army men. I feel how weak an army can be, when it fears a simple smiling lady.
Such a weak army does not need even need another army or guerrilla group to displace, But just a knock on the door in the middle of the night on the top generals and they would all surrender like lambs. If they were real Man, they could have anyway not kept a Lady in prison for so long , fearing their own lives.

Fortune Telling
There is no escape from Fortune Tellers. You like it or dislike it, but you will sooner or later try for the heck of it. Mostly, when you are passing through bad times.. For others, consulting a Fortune Teller before every event is a way of life.

Indian Overseas Restaurants
What Indian restaurants serve worldwide is a very thick curry and then the vegetables and meat cooked in it. I am still to visit one single restaurant, which could actually make something like an Indian Home Cooked Food.
Unless you order the dry variety, where the cooking is somewhat similar to home cooking, the curry dishes invariably have tons of ghee embedded on to the dish. The flavour of Masalas ( Spices ) and the ghee , somehow becomes more dominant then the original taste of the vegetables.
What one learns from Chinese , Japanese, Thai and Korean cooking, where the Curry is clear watery, soupy and flavours are parted to the cooking out of the water and not the Butter. The vegetable juices and the spices suspended in water interact and make the most lazeez curry.( Finger licking Curries ) Now the quantity of water is the most important thing in a curry. Unless you are an adept chef, you have never learnt the optimum quantity . The rich texture and delectable flavour will not show up. The clue is that Water should be just enough to cover the vegetables for the curry portion and little more for the steam .
Now will the restaurants learn ,that Indian Food is much more yummier when it has lots of curry in it and not the thick paste clinging the food. It is the TAREE and not the curry, which makes the food delectable .
Second problem is the serving plates . The Indian food is most enjoyed in a Thali . If served on a plate, the curries spill all over the plate and make a messy array. Recently I advised a German Company, who had recently opened a show room of ceramic dining sets in Gurgaon , India to design a Thali out of Ceramic or glass and design nice glass Katoris , and wow, three months later , the dining set was on the show with rich blue texture on glass .
No one single Indian Restaurant has been able to get the Thalis made out in nice Glass and ceramic and beautiful katoris ( bowl ) . They all use the plates or at times, there would be a Steel thali and if you are lucky, somewhere u may find a Silver Thali. ( The regal standards )
After all food is first tasted by the eyes..
In North of India, where most curries come from the Dhabas ( Fast Food Outlet ) would have a large Bronze vessel and then against any order ,the chef would further Tadka ( Spice it up) it.

Tuk Tuk
Tuk Tuk is my little pet. An absolutely materialistic dog.
No less then a Sofa he needs for his sleep and refuses to be a veggie , . His favourite food is sausages.His favourites are street cats and cats love to make him chase all over the place.
With a size of 16 inches in length and 12 inches in height and 4 kgs weight, the little thing has a very strong personality.
No one dares to pass the street, unless he has enough friendship with Tuk Tuk
Tuk Tuk is a naturalist and lives nude and refuses to ride a car. Refuses water or any food served in plastic packets. Is now applying for membership of Greenpeace.
But there is something very Unique about this Pet. Since the day, Tuk Tuk landed in my house, there is some or the other money which falls for me from somewhere. He has made sure that I am getting richer by the day and he is getting cuter by the day.
One weekend after late night party, I reached home around 2 am and Tuk Tuk was on the first floor. Not knowing , it was me who entered the house, this little thing ferociosly barked and sounded enough alarm for the negihbours to rush. Since then his diet has been doubled.
Tuk Tuk has another unique habit that, if he does not like a person, then he would come closer to him and piss on him and run away fast. So, I get to know, who are my friends and who are not. Now before I could have presented Tuk Tuk to Obama and family so that they could have effectively used for screening the bad guys from the good guys, the Obama have chosen the Wolf kind of dog. Well Good Luck Mr Obama.
Last week was his birthday and the next door girl " Palee" , around 3 years, who is incidentally also Tuk Tuk `s best friend, shared cutting the cake. The cats watched enviously from outside and were treated with a small slice.
The Cats next door have announced that he is still the sexiest Dog in the town and despite historical differences with dogs, the cats are willing to sit down on the table and make an understanding.
The UN council has been reported about it and a Geneva convention will be held on this soon. It is expected that Homosapian delegates will finally tend to learn from the cats and the dogs.
Pets are fortune changers and I always advise my palmistry clients to go and get a smart pet and you will see, how your life changes. When your own life is riddled with unresolved problems, take a supporting fate service from the Pet.

In Praise of " Garam Masala "
If you are a connoisseur of good food and taste , then one of the relishing diets has to be Indian.
Indian food has a very large assortment of spices and therefore gives an aromatic flavour.
One such spice is " Garam Masala" ( GM)
This is unique mixture of six different spices , made as follows.
2 tablespoons cumin seeds 2 tablespoons coriander seeds 2 tablespoons cardamom seeds 2 tablespoons black peppercorns 1 (3-inch) stick cinnamon, broken up 1 teaspoon whole cloves 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon saffron (optional) Put the cumin, coriander, cardamom, peppercorns, cinnamon, and cloves in a dry heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Toast the spices, stirring occasionally, until they turn several shades darker and give off a sweet smoky aroma, about 10 minutes. Do not raise the heat to quicken the process, or the spices will brown prematurely, leaving the insides undercooked. Cool completely.
Working in batches if necessary, transfer the mixture to a spice mill or coffee grinder and grind to a powder. Stir in the nutmeg and saffron. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
This only one ingredient makes all the difference in cooking. Other then India, Pak and Bangladesh, the rest of the world still does not have an equivalent spice.
I am hoping someday, I can launch this new spice and bring this flavour to the rest of the world.
In Indonesia, where I live now, the words would mean " Salty Problems " and hence GM is a total run down.
I am still trying to figure out, what would be a good Brand. Any suggestions?

Veggie in China
I have lived most of my life as a Vegetarian and now a strong activist for Vegetarianism. I have never been able to appreciate the killing of any animal for the purpose of food.
Veggie way of life for a traveller is a real hassle. I use to have a real hard time initially finding veggie food for myself .
Once I was travelling in central China, Ningbo precisely and at that time, the city had just one hotel and the hotel had only the one receptionist, who could speak a little English. So for every request of mine, this little girl was brought in for the interpretation .
Now settling for my dinner in the evening, the menu was cast in Chinese language and receptionist was already back home and the waiter would not speak English. Fully grounded.
So, somehow I managed to call the chef using sign language. And followed him to the kitchen and checked his inventory and luckily could find Potatoes and onions and cauliflower.
Cook, that I am myself, I cut a potato and an onion and some cauliflower and asked him to then load it on the wok and 15 Min's later , all spiced up my food was on table.
But since then, I learned the survival technique and have never missed my own veggie curry food anywhere. Every single hotel was kind enough to take my instructions for the next veggie dish.
The only thing I make sure now is that I carry my own Garam Masala and also my own Indian Tea. This makes travel real spicy .
Interestingly , in those times, say 1990, there use to be only one veggie restaurant in Shanghai and to my surprise, was very full on our arrival.
I understand now, Veggie is getting more popular in China. Though Chinese veggie still means chicken and all birds are OK.
I am still an activist for veggie and recommend that people should at least make one day of the week , the veggie diet day. This itself will be a big step forward.
